Terzo Cineforum Inuit 2012

I lunghi fine settimana trascorsi in casa per la riabilitazione della spalla destra di Mauro ci hanno fatto riscoprire il piacere delle piccole cose casalinghe: un film da guardare insieme, un libro da leggere, un progetto rimasto in sospeso da tempo che riusciamo finalmente a terminare...
Così in questi ultimi giorni abbiamo completato il programma del terzo Cineforum Inuit, la locandina e le schede sinottiche dei 5 film e documentari selezionati per questa nuova edizione, ed abbiamo inserito tutto in una pagina degli eventi di Tatiyak raggiungibile direttamente con questo link:

Le due precedenti edizioni si trovano sempre nella stessa sezione, il Primo Cineforum Inuit 2009 ed il Secondo Cineforum Inuit 2009-2010.
Come sempre, il Cineforum è stato pensato per essere un evento itinerante, così da contribuire alla diffusione della cultura dei popoli artici. Buona visione a tutti!

The long weekends spent at home, due to the rehabilitation of the Mauro's right shoulder, have help us to rediscover the pleasure of the small home things: watch a film together, red a book on the sofa, complete an old project that was still pending...
During last days we have so completed the program of the third Inuit Cineforum, the poster and the synoptical forms of the 5 films and documentaries selected for this 2012 edition. You can find all the material on the event page of the Tatiyak web site: Terzo Cineforum Inuit 2012.
The two preceding editions are always found at the same section, the Primo Cineforum Inuit 2009 and Secondo Cineforum Inuit 2009 -2010.
As always, the Cineforum has been thought for being a road event to contribute to the diffusion of the Inuit culture and tradition. Good vision to everybody!

Newsletter from Nuussuaq

Ci sono passioni che si trasformano in scelte di vita.
Nathalie ed Alain Antognelli si sono trasferiti a Nuussuaq, un villaggio nel nord della Groenlandia occidentale: lì trascorrono il lungo inverno polare scattando fotografie meravigliose ed aggiornando un blog pensato "a l'écoute du peuple Gorenlandais", allenandosi per continuare quanto cominciato nel 2009.
Noi li abbiamo conosciuti un paio di anni fa al raduno internazionale di Anglesey quando hanno presentato il loro viaggio in kayak lungo le coste occidentali della Groenlandia, da Upernavik a Aappilatoq - compiuto nel corso delle estati 2009-2010-2011: il loro entusiasmo era travolgente!
Poi abbiamo visitato la loro mostra sugli Inuit allestita a Monaco, mentre andavamo ad Ibiza&Formentera per il nostro classico viaggio invernale in kayak, una piccola gita fuori porta in confronto!
La coppia di fotografi monegasca ha scelto di passare l'inverno al nord e da qualche mese seguiamo con interesse crescente - ed un pizzico di sana invidia - la loro nuova dimensione esistenziale.
Ora l'inverno sta per concludersi ed il 2 febbraio è comparso il sole, che l'8 febbraio aveva già conquistato ben 24 minuti! I due amici vivono con gli Inuit, partecipano alla caccia all'orso e alla foca, si spostano in slitta e con gli sci, si allenano a condurre la muta di cani per la prossima tappa del loro viaggio: in slitta da Nuussuaq a Savissivik, e poi ancora in kayak fino a Etah. Il loro sito è ricco di progetti passati, presenti e futuri. Sono davvero bellissimi nei loro vestiti tradizionali! Buona fortuna ad entrambi!

When a passion become a life style: Nathalie and Alain Antognelli are now live in Nuussuaq, a village in the north of western Greenland. A l'écoute du people Groenlandais, their interesting blog.
We've met them a couple of years ago In Angelsey where they've introduced their sea kayak trip along the western coast of Greenland, from Upernavik to Aappilatoq - during the 2009-2010-2011 summers: their enthusiasm was breathtaking!
Then, we've visited their exposition about Inuit people in Monaco, while we were going to Ibiza&Formentera for our classical winter trip, a little escursion in comparison!
Hourly the winter is about to end and on February 2 has appeared the sun, that on February 8 had already conquered 24 minutes! The two photographers are living with the Inuits, they participate in bear and seal hunting, they practise sleddog and skis, and they're training for their next trip: from Nuussuaq to Savissivik by sleddog and then by kayak again up to Etah. Their web site is an incredible mixt of past, present and future programs. They are really very beautiful in their traditional suits! Good luck to you both!

Torneo Nazionale di Eskimo: the Italian roll event!

Manca ormai meno di un mese e fervono i preparativi per la terza edizione del Torneo Nazionale di Eskimo! Quest'anno ha cambiato nome ma non ha cambiato pelle: sempre a Genova Pontedecimo e sempre presso la piscina della Fratellanza Nuoto.
E' un festival dell'eskimo ricco di presentazioni, video, esposizioni, premi e divertimento.
L'appuntamento è per sabato e domenica 10 e 11 marzo 2012.
La preziosa collaborazione di Canoaverde e la fondamentale promozione di Sottocosta ci hanno permesso di dare più ampio respiro all'evento. La pagina dedicata al Torneo è già attiva da tempo, il regolamento e le modalità di iscrizione sono in linea e la locandina definitiva sarà pronta a breve.
Abbiamo il sostengo di CS CANOE per l'uso dei kayak Greenland 550 e Greenland 515.
I premi offerti dagli sponsor sono stati pensati - e prodotti a mano! - per essere consegnati ai vincitori delle singole categorie!
In attesa delle ultime adesioni, abbiamo stampato una bella locandina formato A5 fornte retro per promuovere oltre al Torneo Nazionale di Eskimo anche la gara di nuoto di solidarietà promossa da Nuotathon, un gemellaggio sportivo che ha dato il nome alle due giornate in vasca "Swimm&Roll".

Just one month by now to enjoy the National Roll Championship - the Italian roll event!
Despite a different name the event has not change the skin: same swimming pool, same city, same programm, full of presentations, videos, exhibitions!
Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of May 2012 in Genova Pontedecimo with the cooperation of old and new associations: Fratellanza Nuoto, Canoaverde and Sottocosta.
We have a web site page, rules are on line and formalities can be downloaded. We obviously have Greenland kayaks for the exsibition, kindly offered by CS CANOE Greenland 550 e Greenland 515. Waiting for the last adhesions form sponsors and associations, we have realized a beautiful poster to promote both with the roll event another swimm and solidarity competition, organized by Nuotathon, that has given the name to the two sporting days: "Swimm&Roll". Join us!!!

Women in charge: una mostra di artiste inuit contemporanee!

La mostra è stata inaugurata il 15 dicembre 2011 con una tavola rotonda ed un rinfresco presso il  Museo Nazionale Preistorico Etnografico "Luigi Pigolini" di Roma, con il contributo del Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali. Il tema della tavola rotonda era emblematico e non poteva non attirare la mia attenzione: "L'altra metà del Polo: sviluppo socio-economico delle donne dell'Artico".
Non sono ancora riuscita a vedere la mostra, che doveva rimanere aperta sino al 15 febbraio 2012 ma proprio in questi giorni è stata prorogata sino al 22 aprile 2012 (wow!), ma ho ordinato il catalogo per avere un assaggio dell'espressione artistica delle donne Inuit dell'Artico canadese. Cape Dorset è sempre stato un luogo centrale per lo sviluppo dell'arte Inuit sin dal tempo dei primi esploratori europei e, anche grazie al contributo di James Houston, la Compagnia della Baia di Hudson ha cominciato ad esportare non solo pellicce ma anche opere d'arte. Il grande interesse del mercato canadese ed internazionale ha sollecitato l'amplificarsi della produzione artistica e ha fatto emergere il lavoro di alcune artiste, che nel tempo si sono affrancate dal ruolo tradizionale di compagne dei cacciatori.
La mostra ospita una cinquantina di opere, disegni e stampe ed è la prima esposizione italiana dedicata alle artiste Inuit. Il bel catalogo è trilingue ed è corredato dalle biografie delle artiste. Lo abbiamo subito inserito nella biblioteca di Tatiyak insieme ad un altro catalogo che da tempo aspettava una recensione: Inuit e popoli del ghiaccio, una mostra del lontano 2006 organizzata per le Olimpiadi invernali di Torino e curata da Gabriella A.Massa... un piccolo omaggio alla sua grande figura.

 

An interesting art exhibition has been inaugurated on 15th of December 2011 with a round table and a refreshment at the Prehistoric and Ethnographic National Museum "Luigi Pigolini" in Rome with the contribution of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. The theme of the round table attract my attention: "The other halves of the Pole: social-economic development of the women artists of the Arctic".
The exhibition is actually open until the 22th of April 2012 and this is the first Italian exhibition devoted to the Inuit contemporary women artists. I'm not sure to be able to visit the exhibition, so I've shipshaped the catalog to appriciate the artistic expression of the Inuit women of the Canadian Arctic: Cape Dorset has always been a central place for the development of the Inuit art since the time of the first European explorers; thanks to James Huston, between others, the Hudson Bay Company has started to export both coats and handworks and starting from the 1949 the women slowly moved from the wife position to autonomy.
This is a beautiful catalog written in three languages with the biographies of the artists.
We put a schedule of the catalogue into the reading page of the Tatiyak web site, with another catalogue of a past Italian exposition, just in Italian, sorry.
