Winter craziness

Il mondo del kayak è pieno di matti e noi siamo così fortunati da conoscerne tanti!

In queste fredde giornate invernali uno dovrebbe trascorrere la serata davanti al caminetto ed invece Andrea Bolis, socio Sullacqua, cosa fa? Il giro del Lago Maggiore in solitaria: 150Km in kayak in 36 ore!

E' partito giovedì notte intorno alle 23.00 da Arolo pagaiando verso sud fino a Sesto Calende; verso le 3.20 di venerdì mattina, sfidando nebbie fittissime e temperature polari, ha virato la prua verso nord e ha costeggiato tutta la sponda piemontese del lago fino in Svizzera; dopo una breve sosta alla foce del Maggia è ripartito all'una di sabato mattina per chiudere l'anello sul versante lombardo, arrivando a destinazione alle ore 11 di sabato 14 gennaio 2012.

Un'avventura sicuramente fuori del comune, considerato il periodo dell'anno, la navigazione notturna e la pagaiata in solitaria. Una determinazione da "dannato del kayak" che gli invidiamo molto!

The community of sea kayak is full of crazy people and we are lucky enough to know many of them!

In these cold winter days one should spend the evening in front of the fireplace...  and instead Andres Bolis, member of Sullacqua local association, what does he do? He goes for a paddle all around the Maggiore Lake in North Italy: 81 NM by kayak in 36 hours absolutely alone!

He startsd on Thursday night around 23.00 o'clock from Arolo and he paddled south up to Sesto Calende and to north starting from 3.20 o'clock of Friday morning; challenging dense fogs and polar temperatures he went straight up to Switzerland and after a brief stop he reached the destination on Saturday morning at 11.00 o'clock.

An exciting and amusing adventure, expecially for the period of the year, the night navigation and the solo paddle. A strong determination of a "damned of the kayak" that we envy him so much!

Sono ormai passate le festività natalizie ma i regali continuano ad arrivare: oggi ci sono stati recapitati due graditissimi ed inaspettati regali che volentieri condividiamo sul blog!

Holidays recommended reading

In questi giorni di festa, di lunghe dormite e di pantagrueliche mangiate, abbiamo anche trovato il tempo di leggere, tanto tempo per leggere, scrivere e sognare. Abbiamo così anche inserito nella pagina dedicata del sito due nuove letture che volentieri presentiamo: "Estetica del Polo Nord" di Michel Onfray è un bel trattatello filosofico scritto con mano leggera e tono malinconico, "Tra cinque minuti l'aereo parte" di Franco Giovannini è invece il racconto di viaggio dell'alpinista italiano ad Ammassalik e del suo incontro con Robert Peroni. Due libri diversi ma ugualmente affascinanti: il primo suggerito dagli Inuit del Lario, il secondo invece riportato da Ottorino Tosti sul blog del progetto ItaliAmmassalik... entrambi subito cercati, acquistati e letti d'un fiato!
Se poi avete voglia e tempo, soprattutto tempo perchè il volume merita particolare attenzione, si trova ancora, anche se con una certa difficoltà, l'intramontabile lavoro di Jean Malaurie su "Gli Ultimi Re di Thule", un tomo ricco di informazioni antropologiche, storiche e culturali sul mitico popolo Inuit della Groenlandia.

In these holidays, of long sleeps and excessive eatening, we have also found the time to read, so much time to read, write and dream! So, we have update the web page with two or three new reading books: "Aesthetics of the North Pole" by Michel Onfray, a philosophical writing realized with light hand and melancholy tone, "In five minutes the airplane start" by Franco Giovannini, the story of the trip to Ammassalik of the Italian climber and his meeting with Robert Peroni. Two different but equally fascinating books: the first one suggested by the blog Inuits of the Lario, the second instead brought by Ottorino Tosti on the blog of the ItaliAmmassalik project... both immediately purchased and read! If you have time, you can also read the everlasting work of Jean Malaurie on "The Last Kings of Thule", an anthropological, historical and cultural book full of informations about the Greenland Inuit people. Sorry, I didn't translate the book schedules, not yet...

Happy New Year 2012

Per cominciare bene l'anno nuovo, un calendario 2012 con il kayak da mare protagonista!
Le belle immagini di Ugo Pons Salabelle, sempre così cariche di colori ed emozioni, impreziosiscono le 12 pagine del calendario promozionale di una ditta campana di recupero di siti inquinati... che ha scelto il kayak, e le foto di Ugo, per trasmettere l'idea che la natura va tutelata!
Chiedendolo all'autore, si può ricevere una copia autografata del calendario!
Per sognare un anno intero con viaggi sull'acqua, sfiorando il cielo con la pagaia e lasciando sul mare una scia che dura il tempo di una foto...
Nel nostro piccolo, noi abbiamo predisposto un calendario con le foto dell'ultimo viaggio estivo a Maiorca.

To start in a good way the new year, here we are with a sea kayak calendar for 2012!
The beautiful pictures made by the Italian photographer Ugo Pons Salabelle, always so full of colors and emotions, embellish the 12 pages of the promotional calendar of a company involved to recovery polluted sites... that choose the kayak, and the pictures made by Ugo, to transmit the idea that the nature must be protected!
Asking to the actor, you can receive an autographed copy of the calendar. So you can dream for the entire new year with sea kayak trips on the water, grazing the sky with the paddle and leaving on the sea a wake that lasts the time of a picture...
In a different way, we realized a little calendar with the photos of our last sea kayak summer trip in Maiorca. Happy New Year to everybody!
