Interesting 4* training with James Stevenson...

While Mauro and other friends were paddling along the Venice canals, I spent two days observing James Stevenson on a 4* training with 3 paddlers coming from the Essex, John, Anthony and Rocky.
It was really interesting: briefing, de-briefing, coaching personal skill, leading the group and testing the leadership of the candidates, giving individual feedback and working on different manouvers, pushing them to improve on each part the syllabus... Two busy and funny days! I had one more opportunity to observe a great coach at work and three motivated students working hard to become competent 4* sea leaders. Was so good to sea everybody happy and smiling at the end of each day!
Sunday was bit cloudy but not so windy as we expected and Monday was a perfect sunny day - well, it hailed down in the late afternoon but you know, it's the English weather! (I putted two underlayer, one more than the day before, and I finally get warm, even if my toes were still frozen!). Play on the surf at Treardurr Bay was the perfect end of a perfect two-days training!

Low tide at Roscolyn last Sunday...
C.L.A.P. explained on the beach, so much better than in the classroom!
Short lunch time on the rocks
Practising rolls and rescues on the little tidal around Roscolyn beacon...
Paddler-centred coaching style...
Empy the boat after a good session of self rescues
Good coach made good paddlers... and good observers too!
