Hand off Greenland!

In questo periodo di guerre sanguinose e di conquiste territoriali ci sembra importante condividere questa iniziativa che coinvolge noi kayaker. Buona lettura!

Kayakers of the world,
even if we don't know each other personally, we are connected by the feeling, the joy, the strength, and the freedom we share with every paddle stroke. We owe all of this to the Greenlandic (and other Arctic) Inuit, to their ingenious heritage and gift to us all: the kayak. Being carried on the waves by my Greenland kayak is pure joy for me. We all share this joy from Greenland to South Africa, from Alaska to New Zealand, no matter how different our kayaks may look.

There are many terrible conflicts in the world right now, and each one pains me and I'm sure it pains you too. But the idea that Trump would come along and, like the worst kind of bandit, try to buy or violently steal the Inuit's freedom, self-determination, and their land with its natural treasures—which they reclaimed through a long and arduous process—for a few "glass beads" is simply incomprehensible, given the connection I feel through paddling with Greenland and the Inuit.

I understand: If I don't do something now to support them in their fight for freedom, I could never again feel good about getting into my kayak or building a Greenland kayak. If you feel the same way, then show your solidarity with Greenland and its people, spread this appeal as a visible sign on social media, pin it to your accounts and kayaks, and forward it to other kayakers and kayak clubs. Perhaps one day we will all meet in Greenland to show, united, that Trump cannot buy or steal Greenland's freedom, because there are many of us. So many!

And to our kayaking friends in the USA: We need you too, especially you, now! We know that most US-Americans do not support Trump's madness. Even if you supported him in the hope that things would improve, show him that you didn't elect him to steal foreign lands and ruin your reputation in the world. Spread this message:
